Selective licensing in Nottingham
What Nottingham City Council requires of private landlords, alongside the duties that apply everywhere in England.
Licensing in force
Nottingham's selective licensing scheme covers 20 wards and started in December 2023, with five-year licences. Fees were revised from 1 April 2026; the standard fee has been £887 per property, reduced to £665 for accredited landlords (DASH, Unipol or ANUK), with a higher £1,233 rate for landlords the council assesses as less compliant.

Written statement of terms
Every tenancy needs one: new tenancies from 1 May 2026, pre-existing ones were due by 31 May 2026. Civil penalty of up to £7,000 per failure; serving late reduces exposure.
